Airbags are designed to save lives. Unfortunately, the biggest manufacturer of airbags in the world – Takata – knew for years that its airbags were prone to catastrophic failure. A failure that is responsible for an estimated 24 deaths and over 240 injuries.  Our team of airbag injury lawyers is ready to help victims across the United States get justice and compensation for these needless and preventable losses.

To date we have signed up dozens of victims of defective Takata airbags. Sadly, there are millions of vehicles still on the road with dangerous airbags. Unfortunately, that probably means that others will likely die or suffer catastrophic injuries. In this post we list the many resources our team of Airbag Injury Lawyers have put together for those wanting to more information about the recall and how to sue for a defective airbag.

How Do I Sue for a Defective Airbag?

Our cornerstone airbag post is Takata Airbag Injury Claim Center. Here our airbag injury lawyer team lists everything you need to know about:

  • Making a claim for an airbag injury or death
  • What vehicles are subject to the recall?
  • Is my vehicle safe to drive?
  • History of the Takata recall
  • How do I make a claim for the loss of use of my car while waiting for parts?
  • Why are you suing the car companies and not Takata?
  • Why do I need a Takata airbag injury lawyer? (Can’t I just use a local personal injury attorney?)

Like watching a video instead? Airbag injury lawyer Brian Mahany discusses how to file a Takata airbag injury or death claim.  How to File a Takata Airbag Injury Claim.

In a short five minute video we answer the questions, “Can I sue for an airbag injury?” and “What is the best way to recover damages for my pain and suffering?

The first recalls of Takata airbag equipped vehicles began in 2008 yet over a decade later there are millions of vehicle owners still awaiting replacement parts meaning there are millions of ticking time bombs still on our highways. Many of these cars are being used by families with children. In Takata Airbag Recall Update – Do More People Have to Die? we discuss why the recall is taking so long.

Takata closed its doors in 2017. The company went through bankruptcy and has now been acquired by another company. The sale netted about a billion dollars. Unfortunately, Takata owes Uncle Sam over $800 million with hundreds of millions more owed to the car companies and dealers who were left holding the bag for loaner vehciles and replacement parts.

In the posts below we discuss how the sale proceeds are being allocated and why Takata airbag victims may only receive pennies on the dollar. Takata Court Restitution Fund Update. Much of our efforts were originally directed against Volkswagen and Audi. While VW and Audi were recalling some cars with Takata airbags they were simultaneously still installing Takata airbags on other cars as late as 2017. They did this despite knowing that Takata airbags can cause deadly explosions.

In GM Takata Airbag Injury Lawsuit and Recall Center Update we concentrate on General Motors cars. [Hint: We think all the major automakers knew the airbags they were using were defective.]

Finally, we look at what others are saying about Takata airbag injury claims.

Fortune called the Takata recall a “full blown crisis.” Newsweek said the recall was “going dangerously slow” and that millions of Americans were still driving potentially “lethal” vehicles.

As of June 2018, there remain an estimated 25,000 vehicles still on the road that contain the so-called “alpha airbag.” These cars and trucks are so dangerous that the NHTSA says they should be parked immediately. We already know of one 81 year old Florida man who was killed while in his vehicle… his parked vehicle.

From having spoken with hundreds of Takata equipped vehicle owners, we sadly know that many motorists didn’t know they had a claim against the car maker and Takata. Some told us that their personal injury lawyer was more interested in a quick settlement or couldn’t afford to take on the big auto makers.
