Takata closed its doors in 2017. The company went through bankruptcy and has now been acquired by another company. The sale netted about a billion dollars. Much of our efforts were originally directed against Volkswagen and Audi. While VW and Audi were recalling some cars with Takata airbags they were simultaneously still installing Takata airbags on other cars as late as 2017. They did this despite knowing that Takata airbags can cause deadly explosions.

As of June 2018, there remain an estimated 25,000 vehicles still on the road that contain the so-called “alpha airbag.” These cars and trucks are so dangerous that the NHTSA says they should be parked immediately. We already know of one 81 year old Florida man who was killed while in his vehicle… his parked vehicle.
